Expansion of Existing Playground Surface

Community Park – Village of Allouez, WI

6,000 sq. ft. Poured in Place Playground Surface Expansion

The Village of Allouez, near Green Bay, Wisconsin asked adventureTURF to add an extension to their current play space with a playground surface expansion. Optimist Park hosts The Allouez Optimists Miracle League of Green Bay. This league provides kids with mental and/or physical challenges, an opportunity to play baseball as a team member, with real uniforms, in an organized league, regardless of their capabilities. The playground area, which is called The Favre Family Miracle Recreation area offers a handicap-accessible playground. Incidentally, the playground is named after its major contributors, Deanna and Brett Favre (of the Green Bay Packers).

When they began planning for the playground expansion, community leaders had originally contacted one of our suppliers for information on the playground surface. It was athat supplier who recommended adventureTURF for surfacing installation. When finished the entire surface area included a 6,000 sq. ft. playground. This is the perfect example of how adventureTURF can expand on a current play space and how poured in place rubber playground surfacing makes it easy for future expansion as well. Poured rubber playground surfacing is a great place to start for communities that have limited budgets, but plan on applying for future grants and other types of funding to expand the play area in the future. Expansion can be completed without having to remove existing surfaces. That saves time and money. See our article on grants for ideas on how to get additional funding for your playground.

Over this four-day project, we were able to blend the new surface with the existing one, making the finished surface look like one clean, new play surface. We were even able to include two different colors for the standard installation. That gives the playground a unique look with aesthetic appeal.
